Bring your loved one's inscription back to life with our on-site painted lettering and gold gilding service. Using durable, weather-resistant paints and real gold leaf, we carefully restore faded letters so they're clear and easy to read once again.

Work is completed within 1–4 weeks, with any council permits and paperwork handled for you. Our office team (Mon–Fri 9am–5pm, Sat 10am–3pm) are on hand for updates, and we cover the whole of East & West Sussex — and further afield if required.

Cleaning and preparation of the inscription area, filling worn carved letters with specialist stone filler if needed, repainting in durable weather-resistant paint or applying gold leaf, and sealing the inscription to protect it from weathering and growth.
Repainting uses a high-quality, UV-resistant stone paint in the colour of your choice (usually black, white or grey). Gilding applies real gold leaf to the letter faces for a traditional, long-lasting finish. You choose whichever suits the memorial and your budget.
Simple repainting usually takes 1–2 hours on site. Gilding takes around an extra hour plus a short drying time. We'll confirm timings in your quote.
Yes. We follow the original letter style and size as closely as possible. If it has worn beyond recognition, we'll talk through the most sympathetic font with you.
Painted letters usually need refreshing every 3–5 years depending on exposure. Gold leaf can last 10 years or more. Our Memorial Protection Plan can keep the wording clear between visits.
For best results letters should be at least 1 cm tall. Smaller lettering can be painted instead — we'll recommend the best approach in your quote.
It depends on the length of the inscription, the condition of the stone and whether you choose paint or gold leaf. Re-lettering starts from £149 — we'll give you an exact figure once we've seen the inscription.
Yes. We repair as well as restore — re-levelling and re-fixing stones that have sunk, leaned or loosened, and filling cracks or worn surfaces before the lettering goes back in. Ask us when you book and we'll quote the whole job together, so the memorial is sound as well as easy to read.
